I love the burlap & canvas Christmas stockings and decided to make my own. I've also always wanted matching stockings for the 6 of us.
First I purchased a small drop cloth from Lowe's for about $5. I bought the ribbon & buttons from Joann Fabrics. The ribbon was $4.95 and the buttons were $1.29/pair.
I used my old stockings that my grandmother made to trace a pattern. I cut it out and then traced it onto the canvas. Once the canvas was cut I then sewed them together. I used the edges of the canvass for the loops to hang the stockings. After they were put together I sewed on the ribbon and then the button.
The wooden letters I also found at Joann Fabrics and stained them with Early American Minwax stain. I put a few coats of poly on them. I haven't drilled holes in the yet to hang them with the stockings but I'll get to that soon.

Kitchen Curtains
A bit ago I had posted about the bay window curtains in the kitchen. Last week I finally got around to cutting down and hemming the kitchen window curtain.
I started out with one 84" panel. I cut it down to the length I wanted then cut it in half.
After cutting it I used stitch witchery from the fabric store to "hem" it. My sewing machine was acting up and not cooperating at all. This was easy enough and seems like it'd hold up ok.
Now the curtains are hung and I can block out some major sun light in the late afternoon!
As you can see we still need to trim & stain the windows. We haven't even made the end panels or doors & drawers for the cabinets yet!

Dozer Bed
Dozer, our Great Dane Rottie mix, is going on a short vacation with us. I was thinking of all the things I need to get ready for our mini trip. I then realized that I didn't want to take his normal bed with us. He also didn't have a doggy bed in the living room. He has one downstairs in the family room where he prefers to spend time since it's cooler in our finished walk-out basement.
So while doing laundry I came across one of the boys old twin quilts that I had purchased from Target about 4 yrs ago.
I sewed the sides closed so it was alike a giant envelope pillow opening.
I then stuffed it with bed pillows. As you can see one of the pillows wasn't as fluffy anymore but I doubt Mr. Woofs will care.
He seems to like his new bed.
