Craft Room

I use the room that is supposed to be a mud room as my craft room.  It's small but it works.  We never really enter the house by the garage anyway.

Over the weekend I found some leftover scrap wood, cut it to size and painted it white.  Then Hubby put in the floating shelves I had wanted!

You can read more about the craft area HERE

After:

On my to do list for this room:

-refinish the floor
-paint the ceiling
-stain the window & trim it out

Craft Area

Once upon a time I had a craft room.  When we finished our basement we put in 2 bedrooms.  One I used as a craft room.  Then we decided to give all 4 boys their own bedroom.  Bye-bye craft room!  My stuff stayed boxed up for a while then I decided to use the mudroom.  Hubby built a desk for me this past year and it fits perfectly in there!

I've been working on painting it and re-staining all the oak trim.  I finally finished the trim minus the window.  The window isn't stained yet nor does it have trim around it yet.

That was one coat of paint on the walls and the trim was all stained but not poly'd yet. I still haven't painted the ceiling yet either.

I want to add some floating shelves above the laundry sink and above the chest.

I worked on the curtains today.  They are from Target.  I took one panel, cut it in half and used stitch witchery to hem them.  While cutting the panel in half I accidentally hit  my dining room light fixture with the scissors when I was shaking the fabric out to lay it flat!  So sad!

Organizing School & Medical Paperwork

It's that time of year again when the kids come home with mountains of paperwork.  Some for me to fill out and send back, some are classroom rules, teacher email addresses, and also the very important password and log in information for all the kids textbooks.

Then there's the mountain of papers I need to keep track of for doctor appointments.  My 13 year old, soon to be 14 years old, has some medical issues and I always carry a folder with all his test results, medications and doctor information when we have appointments.

I decided to throw all the important stuff into one binder so it's easy to find and not stacking up on my desk.

I took a white binder, although now wishing I had purchased a black one, and used scrapbook paper for the front, back and sides.

For the inside I used some left over dividers that the kids didn't need for their school binders.

I could not find my 3 hole punch so I  ended up using the single hole punch to put holes in all papers.
