I saw a similar recipe on the side of a Lipton tea box. Here's my take on it.
Spicy Hot Choclate Tea
1 C unsweetened almond milk
1 C water
2 tea bags (either black or oolong or one of each)
1 tbs cocoa powder*
2 tbs truvia (or amount/sweetener of your choice)*
1/2 tsp Chai spice
Bring almond milk and water to a boil. I did this in a 2 cup measuring cup in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Then steep tea bags in milk/water for about 4 to 5 minutes.
Meanwhile mix together the cocoa powder, truvia and chai spice together. Remove tea bags and mix in cocoa mixture. Pour in a mug and enjoy! I think next time I might just try 1 1/2 tbs truvia. It was on the sweet side with 2 tbs.
* ADJUST THE COCOA AND SWEETENER TO YOUR LIKING! It's very chocolatey and sweet as written.
Chai Spice Mix.
3 tbs cardamom
3 tbs cinnamon
4 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp allspice
4 tsp ground ginger
Mix together and store it in a 8oz canning jar.

I love tea but my stomach can not handle it in the morning for whatever reason. This however doesn't make me sick to my stomach before noon! :)
DeleteThis sounds so yummy! I've never heard of cardamom and will be buying some soon. As for now, off to my kitchen I go to make it without it. I'm in want of some chocolate yumminess. This sounds like it would be good even without the spice I've never heard of. lol Thanks!!
