The Haircut

We have been trying and trying to get him to want to cut his hair.  It's always a HUGE ordeal when it comes to Matthew and haircuts!  When he was a toddler, maybe around 18 months old, I had him sitting on the counter and I was attempting to trim his hair.  He was screaming like someone was trying to hurt/kill him.  He was crying, he was kicking and hitting.  It was a nightmare.  Then I turned slightly to look out the window because I saw something move and our front door was open with just the glass door shut.  I then saw 2 police officers standing there laughing!  Our neighbor had called the police to see what was going on.  I don't blame them Matthew used to scream a lot when it came to baths, haircuts etc.  He had and still has sensory issues.  It goes along with the autism spectrum disorder.  It is what it is....he's a lot better than he used to be.

So now that he's 14 it normally involves him screaming and crying and a bribe to get the job done.  It was to the point that I was ready to offer up money to him to get it done if he could control himself.  Then he, on his own, decided it was time to get his hair done and he wanted to go to the salon and get it done!  Pete and I were shocked!  Happy but shocked!

That is before his hair cut.  His hair totally covered his eyes.  Oh and see the winter coat.  He finally wanted a winter coat.  He refuses to wear it outside but will wear it in the house to take a nap!

Doesn't he look so nice with his hair all trimmed up?
